Moab (Rope Swing & Medieval Chambers) February 23-25, 2018

I know I was down here the previous weekend, but Moab is just too good to stay away. This trip was a little different from my usual trips. The people I was with opted to do AirBnB the two nights we were there which was fine with me. I am usually a really cheap guy when it comes to trips. I'm all about pinching pennies and maximizing adventure. Between 10 people though, the two nights at the condo ended up being about $20 per person. We all got to the condo pretty late and just crashed for the night. The following morning, after the usual morning activities, we took off to our first destination: the Medieval Chambers rappel route. This route has a few down climbs and two rappels, both of which are spectacular. The Medieval Chamber is awesome. Morning Glory Arch is phenomenal. Morning Glory Arch is listed as the 5th largest arch/natural bridge on the UGS website, so getting to rappel over it is pretty cool. One of the downclimbs. Into the chamber I go.      ...

Moab (Climbing & Camping) February 15-18, 2018

This was a bomber trip! One of my good friends had a sister renting a spacious condo in Spanish Valley, and he was able to hook us up for the nights we were down there. Even though all five of us that went were in school full time, it was a 3 day weekend and we were all itching to get out of town. We didn't really have a trip itinerary since we were all focusing on school. Rather, we just got together on Thursday night and piled our gear and bodies into the car and hit the road. We got into town pretty late and were still running on caffeine and excitement so we decided to hike to Delicate Arch in the dark. Shot on my Canon Rebel. After our midnight escapade, we crashed at the condo but were up bright and early the next morning. Friday was a full day of climbing. We started down the canyon at the Take Out Beach climbing area and eventually worked our way to a fun route called "Root Canal" (a nice 5.8).             Me belaying. It's cold in the sh...

Ibex (Climbing & Scouting Trip) February 10, 2018

The nice thing about being in college is that you are recently freed from parents and you feel like you can do "whatever you want." That was the feeling I'm sure we all had when three of my friends and I decided late Friday night after a long week of school and work that we would wake up early the next morning and go on an adventure. Me and my buddy had heard tale of this awesome climbing area out in the middle of nowhere. It was an hour past Delta, UT....so it really was in the middle of nowhere. Sunrise over the Sevier lake bed We woke up at 4am and all met shortly after that. All of my roommates thought I was crazy to give up so much sleep on a weekend. They obviously hadn't caught on to the fact that I was usually gone every other weekend. The drive took just over 2 hours and we arrived just as the sun started glowing on the horizon. I hopped out and took a few pictures then we started scouting around. We drove South down the lake bed then drove over to the...
