Moab (Climbing & Off-roading) March 16-17, 2018

This trip was THE BOMB!!! Two of my friends and I had been planning this for a few weeks and were excited to get away from "Happy Valley" for a few days. Friday, we all had class until mid-afternoon. We met up directly afterwards, and drove South. We got into town late and headed up the west canyon. From the west canyon (UT 279), we drove up Long Canyon to the BLM land to camp. The drive was fairly rough in some spots but super fun. We found a campsite in the dark and were surprised at the amount of campers up there. After dinner, we settled in for the night. The morning was nice and clear and we packed up and drove down Long Canyon. None of us had been there before and we were amazed at the views from the top. The huge boulder the road goes under is awesome. We drove some side roads and rallied around in a sandy area. I'm glad we drove my buddies Toyota Tundra instead of my VW Jetta! Capitol Reef (Rappelling & Camping) March 2-4, 2018

Some cold spring weekends you just have to get out. This weekend wasn't particularly cold, but I was tired of the constant 50 degree weather and the brown and grey landscapes around Provo. I knew my Brother and Sister in law were free for the weekend, so at the beginning of the week I called them up and we set aside the weekend for an adventure. We settled on Capitol Reef NP. I hadn't been to the reef in about four years, so I was pretty excited. As a kid, we would spend every fall break there, so I had done just about everything a family can do down there. A Capitol Reef classic is Cassidy Arch. I remember watching people rappel it and I was always so jealous! Fast forward ten years. I'm an adult, I have all the equipment needed, I consider myself proficient in all things rope related. Finally!
